Hi Everyone!!!

So as you all know in less then two weeks I will be competing in the Miss Teenage Canada Pageant ,it will be a dream come true and a surreal experience. I always thought and read about pageant such as Miss Teen USA and Miss Teen Canada and always wondered what it would be like to be in one. Even some of my friend’s parents knew about a pageant called Miss Teen Canada back in their day and the whole family would actually watch it together on CTV . But I have recently tried to explain to them that the two pageants are not the same because as a matter of fact the last Canadian pageant to have been on TV was in the year 1990. But that isn’t the only difference between the two pageants.

The first Miss Teenage Canada actually took place in the year 1969. Then shortly after it was renamed Miss Teen Canada in 1972 which is actually the year my parents were born. The pageant was fully functioning until the year 1990 in which because of financial difficulties was shut down and as well it was the last Canadian pageant to be aired on television. Since 1990 though, there has been numerous new pageants that have been created one of them being the Miss Teenage Canada which I am currently a part of and was formerly called Miss Teen Canada World. But let me tell you about some of the differences between Miss Teenage Canada and other pageants such as Miss Teen Canada.

First of all Miss Teenage Canada is the only pageant in Canada that features a preliminary provincial pageant, It also offers the availability for any girl no matter what height, weight or ethnicity to compete and be part of the whole pageant experience. It is the pageant with the biggest final price and the one with the most media coverage (Part of our week in Toronto we will be featured on Breakfast Television Toronto and MuchMusic).

(The wide variety of girls that competed in Miss Teenage Canada 2013)

The new selected Miss Teenage Canada 2014 will receive tons of prizes being over $25000.00 in total.

Part of that prize will be $3000.00 in cash and the official Miss Teenage Canada custom made crown and sash. Styling and Apparel during the one year reign, educational training such as public speaking and runway. Fashion Photoshoots and Airfare fully paid to all the appearances. A free Grad Trip sponsored by S-Trip. Spray Tan , Hair and Makeup. A $250.00 Shopping Spree at the Toronto Eaton Centre , a Scholarship for the Toronto Academy of Acting.  A leather jacket worth $1000.00, A gift basket by Shoppers Drugmart, Hair Care for the one year reign provided by Schwarzkopf Professional Canada and my favorite a Me to We trip to Kenya valued at $5000.00.

But even with all of these prizes the Miss Teenage Canada pageant is unlike any other and very unique. A lot of its focus lies on how we help our community and each other. The Miss Teenage Canada pageant even has its own official charity ”Free the Children”. Free the Children is an international charity that works a lot through ”We Day” and ”We Act” which helps to empower all youth to make a difference in their communities and to believe in making a difference and changing the world for the better. Miss Teenage Canada promotes this specially in their delegates by requiring each delegate to go out there in their communities and raise a minimum of $400.00 for Free the Children.

I would love to be crowned Miss Teenage Canada and be the first Hispanic/Latina to be crowned and hopefully motivate other young Latinas and encourage other girls from different races to apply and follow their dreams no matter how big. If I were to be crowned Miss Teenage Canada I would love to travel to Kenya and work with the Free the Children charity and Aid for Africa charity. The Aid for Africa is a charity that I absolutely support and is the reason why I chose Education as my platform. One of their main focus is the Girls Education Fund which provides girls the opportunity to attend school in hopes that the knowledge they receive in school will provide for them the empowerment they need and the motivation they need to break out of poverty and go out and make a change in the world by providing things such as scholarships.  I would feel absolutely blessed to have the opportunity with a title so huge such as Miss Teenage Canada to go out there and be able to be heard and make a difference in the world and be the voice for those kids and specifically girls and become someone they can look up to and aspire to be one day.

Well that’s all for now! I hope this post was very helpful and educational to you so now you know a bit more about Canadian pageants and the Miss Teenage Canada Pageant!
